Useful Information
Identify Your Chimney of FlueThere's nothing more frustrating than setting your heart on a new fire only to discover that its not actually suitable for your home. To help you understand which fires are suitable, please see information below:-
Class 1 Solid Fuel Chimney
Originally used with Solid Fuel (real coal and logs) and typically brick built (but can also be made with concrete blocks, fireclay liners or insulated metal flue pipe) terminating with a chimney pot or cowl.
The fire chamber, known as the builders opening is normally quite large but may have had a tapered fireback fitted when previously used with Solid Fuel.
All our fires are suitable for this type of flue.
Class 2 Pre-Cast Flue Block
This type of flue is built into the wall of a house using special concrete blocks with a flue passage running through them, terminating with a ridge vent.
Two depths of fire chambers are available 130mm and 235mm.
We have a large slection of fires suitable for this flue type.
Class 2 Twin Wall Steel Flue
This type of flue has a twin wall steel structure with an air gap between the two layers to insulate the flue.
Two types of fire boxes are available,
The standard boxes (shallow and deep) are for rear venting fires and the taller LFE boxes for top venting fires.
We have a large selection of fires for this flue type.
No Chimney Powerflue Option
For rooms without a chimney or flue an alternative is to use one of our Power flue fires. All you need is a suitable outside wall, a Gas supply and a 240 volt power supply.
Driven by an electronic fan to extract the flue gases, the system is constantly monitored and automatically shuts off the fire in the unlikely event of an operational failure.
Note: the fan makes a low level noise.
We have a large selection of fires suitable for this flue type.
